Alpendorf in the Salzburg Province, Austria

Beautiful landscape and first access to Ski amadé

Sankt Johann’s Alpendorf village is a complete “holiday island” surrounded by the natural beauty of Salzburg’s alpine landscape. Located about 3 km from the town centre as you head toward the National Park Valley, it sits at an altitude of 800m at the foot of Mt. Gernkogel (1,787m).

Alpendorf  has earned a reputation for luxury, wellness and sport. It is your gateway to the Salzburg Sportwelt and the Ski Amadé, in summer and winter.

What does Alpendorf have to offer?

With luxury hotels providing more than 1,900 tourist beds, the Alpendorf offers:

  • Indoor and outdoor tennis courts
  • Indoor hotel swimming pools
  • Wellness facilities
  • Saunas
  • A large variety of restaurants and cafes
  • Après ski huts and venues
  • Bars and discos

Children will delight in visiting Alpendorf’s Ghost Mountain and Adventure Playground, both offering special programmes and attractions for kids, from a climbing wall, to pony rides, to a go-cart speedway.

The Active Alpendorf Club caters to sports enthusiasts. In addition to skiing, you can participate in guided hikes, Nordic Walking and excursions in the Mt. Gernkogel area and to the nearby Liechtenstein Gorge, as well as tobogganing parties on the well-lit tobogganing run. Available to all guests, Active Alpendorf organizes recreation programmes to engage all ages and levels of fitness.

Skiing the Alpendorf

In winter Alpendorf is your first gateway to Ski amadé. Modern cable cars and chair lifts open up Austria’s largest ski area (one ski pass gives you access to over 270 cable cars and chair lifts as well as 860km of well-groomed piste) directly from the Alpendorf village.

High-performance snow-making facilities assure that both the Alpendorf ski area and the Hahnbaum have abundant snow throughout the winter season. Cross-country skiers will enjoy the beautiful trails located near the summit station of the Alpendorf Cable Car at an altitude of 1,600m.

The Alpendorf offers everything you need for the perfect ski holiday including three well-organised ski schools, ski kindergartens and complete equipment rentals.
