Lovely town of Sankt Johann

Pongau’s main municipality and cultural centre

Sankt Johann Alpendorf - your holiday resort in the Salzburg Province

At an altitude of 600m, St. Johann, as Pongau’s main municipality and cultural centre, is a resort rich in tradition and flair. Famous for its unique shopping, this small town has 10,700 residents and over 2,000 beds available to accommodate tourists in rooms of every category. This balanced relationship between residents and visitors makes Sankt Johann and the surrounding area a lively and interesting resort all year round. Sixty km. south of the Mozart City of Salzburg, the town lies in the heart of Salzburg Province. It is easily accessible by the autobahn and is an ideal starting point for pleasant hikes to alpine pastures and huts as well as for many of Salzburg’s tourist attractions and points of interest. First and foremost of these is Sankt Johann’s natural wonder, the Liechtenstein Gorge.

What else does Sankt Johann and the surrounding area have to offer?

Our superbly appointed Culture and Congress Centre plays host to many fascinating exhibitions, concerts and events throughout the year.

The “Stadtgalerie” town shopping centre has over 6,000m² of retail space. Here and on St. Johann’s main shopping street you will find an array of friendly, competent retailers specialising in anything from sporting goods to designer fashion, from high tech devices to gourmet chocolate.
