You start this hike directly in Alpendorf. You can park your car for free at the parking lot of the cable car.

First you walk through the Alpendorf, passing the hotels, pensions and apartment houses. Then you walk up along the road in the direction to "Gasthof Sternhof". At the last turn to right before the "Gasthof Sternhof" a path turns to the left. Along this you walk up through a beautiful wood directly to the "Kreistenalm". There you have a wonderful oversight to the surrounding mountains around St. Johann.

The way back is the same or another possibility is to use the new chair lift (Gernkogel Sektion I) down to the centre of Alpendorf.
